Applications / Sales Engineer
Summary:
The Applications/Sales Engineer (ASE) shall be routinely involved with all aspects of assigned projects for Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing, Electron Beam Welding, and Advanced Arc Welding Systems. The ASE shall generate proposals for the Sales department with a primary emphasis on Additive Manufacturing production, Welding applications, and Machinery Sales. The ASE will also work with Customers, Vendors, and the engineering, manufacturing and test departments to facilitate the creation of proposals for new machinery, upgrades to existing machinery, Welding Services, and Additive Manufacturing Production. The ASE is considered a critical part of the sales cycle, and will often contribute to sales and marketing efforts including trade shows, customer visits, marketing and prospecting campaigns, negotiating and closing sales, and after sales support.
Work Environment:
Responsibilities associated with this position are typically performed in an office setting or designated administrative area and requires occasional visits to customer facilities, vendor facilities and trade shows/conferences. Movement through industrial or manufacturing areas is required along with the use of appropriate personal protective wear and consistent observance of established safety policies at all times.
Primary Responsibilities:
Processes equipment RFQs and write proposals for the company. Outline/highlight any special areas in buyer specifications to comply with buyer’s requirements, and formulate/direct the execution of the associated proposals.
Work with Customers, Vendors, Sales and Engineering in the research and gathering of information related to the preparation of equipment design details, costs and specifications, direct initial concepts and identify application specific challenges.
Upon contract awards, initiate and support production, and act as the technical and contract liaison among the customer, Sales and company operations.
Ensure that customer needs and specifications are addressed in all proposals in the most technically and cost-effective manner.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience (Mechanical Engineering, Welding, Material Science; any relevant experience will be considered).
Production & Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Design - Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models
Writing - Excellent writing skills with a strong emphasis on technical writing
Engineering & Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of various goods and service
Project Management -Good communication and organizational skills. Effective at team management, project discovery and planning
Must be U.S. Citizen.
General working knowledge of CAD modeling systems and Word and Excel.
Preferred Experience:
Welding / Additive Manufacturing (AM) Technology - Experience with AM systems, electron beam welding, and/or gas tungsten/plasma arc processes, with a fundamental metallurgical knowledge preferred
Motion Control Systems - experience proposing, designing or utilizing servo control technology
Knowledge of developing and securing government contracts
Basic or Working knowledge of industrial financial accounting, e.g. GAAP, material, labor, and overhead costing, payment structure, purchase orders, invoicing, etc.
General knowledge of contract review and other business law topics.
